After hearing several recommendations to St John's Pre-K and living so close, last spring we decided to enroll Keldan into their 4 year old class the following Fall. This has been at the top of the best advice we took! They are AMAZING there. What they have done with Keldan is just so awesome. At the beginning of the year he was this quiet, laid back, un-confident little boy and he has emerged way beyond what I thought would happen! He still lacks some confidence which is why he will be doing the 5 year old class instead of kindergarten, but I feel in a year when he does go he will be ready. He actually wants to learn now which I LOVE! I have become so close to the teachers and kids (I will be missing some of the little sweeties!!), they are just so down to earth, caring. They encourage being apart of the class and helping out when you can but at the same time get the kids use to being with others. Siblings were always welcomed (and a few of the kids got to know Lucas and would ask where he was if he wasn't with me ;) ). Keldan is just so curious of the world around him now! Before if we were around other kids he would go up to them (he's not shy) but it was like he didn't know how to talk to them, now he can make a friend in 2 seconds! He would get so excited to go and couldn't wait to tell his teachers and friends about what he did or what he was wearing :) It felt good too to hear from the teachers what a wonderful boy he is! That he was just so sweet and the smile wouldn't leave his face :) Mrs. Siegenthaler told me that every day before he left he always had to give her a high five or fist bump, then he would give her a hug and kiss on the cheek :) He LOVED his teachers!! In the beginning at circle time he never would raise his hand to share anything and starting in January he began to raise his hand every day to tell the class something :) Mrs. Mueller said it would just brighten her day to see him emerging, to raising his hand to share something, interacting with the other kids, asking questions and just curious of everything around him. What all he has learn this year is AMAZING! He now knows numbers 1-10 by looking at them, he can count to 20, knows all the letters and the sounds they make (loves to have us say words then he will say what letter it starts with), he can write his name (can write most of the letters of the alphabet), and I'm sure there's more I'm just forgetting ;) This is huge compared to what he was doing at the beginning of the school year, like I said learning didn't interest him so he never would for me. So I could go on and on about the school and the teachers but I won't bore you ;)
Awesome job Keldan!! You did amazing this year at school, Daddy and I couldn't be more proud of you!! We love you so much!!
