Did a few sensory/preschool things:
Painting the alphabet
Made some rainbow rice:
For each color: 1 1/2 Cup rice + 1 Tbl vinegar + couple drops of food coloring Mix together & lay out on a sheet, either dry in the sun or in the oven 175 degrees for 10 min. |
They used it to drive cars in this time, then I got little jars and they filled them up then dumped them out.
Can be used for all different kind of things! Just store it in something and take out for another day :)
Homemade Flubber
**Some people say this can be toxic due to the borax while others say it gets trapped in the glue so it's not, I just made sure they didn't touch anything else while playing and when they were done we washed there hands in antibacterial soap extremely well!**
Mixture #1: 2 C glue + 1 1/2 C warm water + food coloring Mixture #2: 3 Tbl borax + 1 C warm water Mix them in separate containers then combine together, let it sit for a few min (or mix it) |
They thought it was pretty cool how it went from liquid to a gooey substance. They played with this for a good hour :)
Keldan's ghost, he would make the boooo sound :) |
Coolest project by far....a VOLCANO!! Oh how I love pinterest!
Pop Bottle, Foil, Play-do, Vinegar, Food Coloring, and Baking Soda |
Sorry, I didn't take step-by-step pictures but you take a pop bottle and cut the top off. Place foil all around it to give it the "volcano" look. I then took play-do (homemade recipe, much cheaper when its only a one time use ;)) and placed it all around the foil. Put a few drops of red food coloring around the top and dinosaurs at the bottom to add a fun effect for the boys (as you can see in the picture below).
I poured some vinegar into a bowl and added some red food coloring to it to make the lava. Poured some baking soda into the "mouth" of the volcano. Then I left the boys use their own cups to get the "lava" out of the bowl and pour into the volcano and watch it erupt :) Oh my word they absolutely LOVED this!! Did not want to quit playing but I ran out of vinegar. Definitely will be doing this again!!
And when you're done you just toss it in the trash :)
