I thought I would share the wonderful day/night that Lucas decided it was time to meet his daddy & mama.
After several months of strong contractions and couple dr visits that were false alarms I made one last visit to the dr on Mon December 28th...better to be safe than sorry. He said that I was progressing but not far enough yet. I asked him if he could guess when it would finally be the real thing (knowing that no one knows he would come when he wanted to) and he said honestly I thought it was going to happen a few weeks ago. So I knew already that this little guy was going to be a stubborn one. So I went home praying it would be soon. That evening I put Keldan to bed at 9:15 and took my usual bath trying to relax. I think around 9:30 I told Joe the contractions were much stronger but not consistent. So I called my dr to tell him we were going to the ER and Joe called his mom to come down and be with Keldan. Of course this is the night that the first big snow storm hit. She made it fairly quickly with the roads being bad. We were on our way to hospital by 10.

By this time I was in a lot of pain and of course the nurse was trying to ask questions...all that was in my mind was GIVE ME THE EPIDURAL! She was a wonderful nurse though, made it quick. When the questioning was done she checked to see what my progress was: 6cm & 95%. By 1:41 am Lucas Xavier Hamsher was brought into the world :) That moment when you get to hold your baby for the first time, there are no words! They left us hold him until 3:30 then took him to the nursery. I had wanted to let my mom be in to experience this with me, so having the wonderful husband I have agreed to it (of course Joe was still my support person). My mom was able to take some pictures after he was born.
