5 Months!

Mikaela is 5 months..where does the time go?!

*13lbs (finally had a weight gain!)

*Her height I'm not sure about..last month at doctors (even had a print out that said it) she was 25.5, we measured her several times at home & was only 24.5-25 inches.

*3-6 month, some 6 month clothes.

*Size 2 diapers

*Her food has changed. Most of the month was eating 6 oz of Nutramigen every 3 hours and we did veggies/fruit twice a day since the cereal didn't go so well. She became so miserable. After having her to the doctor for them to just say oh she's fine when I knew she was not I decided to take matters in to my own hands. I took her off solids and after couple days saw somewhat of an improvement but I still knew she was in pain. I did quite a bit of research and using her symptoms kept stumbling across allergy to formula and the high fructose corn syrup. So I called to the Berlin health food to get some insight on goats milk and they happen to say something about trying organic formula, it sometimes does the trick (has regular sugar instead of the corn syrup), so we gave the organic a try. Something had to be done I knew, crying all day long could not be healthy for her and definitely was not healthy for the Mama! After 3 bottles I was beginning to see a bit of difference and after 1 day she is like a different little girl! I can't tell you enough the change in her. Her dirty diapers are a normal color and normal smelling again (I know kind of gross but this was one of my major concerns) and she is a normal 5 month old! She has her color back and is feeling a little chunkier :) Thank you Jesus!!! I don't think I could go on much more with how she was. Knowing shes in pain and not knowing what was wrong was stressing me out to no end! I have begun making my own baby food as well, seems to be agreeing too. She just talks and smiles now and I actually can put her down! The boys are happy they are getting a little of their mama back :)

*Talking a lot & smiling like crazy

*Loves to sit and watch her brothers, I think this is the highlight of her day :)

*Taking about 3 naps a day in her crib and sleeping from 9pm to 9am (usually around those times). Usually as soon as I see her getting sleepy I can just lay her down in crib and she goes to sleep on her own with no crying :)

*On her first antibiotic this month, she got the lovely nasty cold with an earache.

*Went sled riding for the first time :)

*She is reaching & grabbing at everything.

*Will sit on her own for a few seconds occasionally. She likes to lean forward and falls on her face, no belly to keep her up, miss skinny minnie!

Her headband in the first pictures look blue but it was actually the same color as her jacket. I didn't realize it was coming out that color until I was almost finished, so we changed headbands and took some more.

She nestled down in the chair and used the side as a pillow. She was so content like that.

Snow Day Friday

We got to enjoy this last big snowfall! The first one kiddos & Mama were sick so we stayed in doors, but this time around we were all healthy (and Mikaela was still on the antibiotic) so we played outside a little. Pictures I took Friday at our house: (I edited some too.)

Four Months!

Miss Mikaela turned 4 months a few weeks ago (I know I'm behind).

*12 lbs..yes that's all. She's below 25% in her weight. She was sick so the doctor said more might have been coming out than going in, or she had a huge growth spurt and her weight didn't catch up, or she is just going to be thinner. Just so weird to see that because Keldan was over 17 lbs at this age and Lucas was 15 lbs.

*almost 25.5 inches. 75%

*3 months and 3-6 month clothes.

*6 oz every 3 hours during day. Tried rice...didn't go so well. The week before she turned 4 months we started with peas, she did very well with those.

*Loves her hands, feet, and toes.

*She's laughing and talking more.

*Reaching for toys & mama :) More like she grabs my hands but you can tell :)

*Loves to watch her brothers! She keeps getting more and more excited to see them.

(I know I've been slacking..been a long few weeks.)

Gramps and Grammie were taking Uncle Jason to eat for his birthday (same birth date as Lucas) at Steak on a Stone. Mama, Daddy, Uncle Ryan, and Aunt Danielle decided to go too (was a surprise to him & Aunt Stacy) so we went over to Meemaw & Papas (2nd part of post).

Dinosaur Train

We had Lucas' Birthday party on Sunday. Thought we would do trains since that was his present. There was 3 or 4 different train party themes so I left him choose. He picked Dinosaur Train. Papa, Meemaw, Gramps, Grammie, Ryan, Danielle, Allie, Jason, Stacy, Alex, Kalea, and Michael came to celebrate with us. Had a great time. Thank you everyone for the gifts :)

We were out all Thursday evening so Lucas opened his gift Friday. We got him a big train table. Really liked this one because it has a road and 2 level train track so they could play with either. After at least 2 hours...yes 2 hours...of putting it together they were finally able to play with it. They love it!

Birthday Number Two

Lucas turned two on the 29th...can he really be 2?! This little monster is up to so much. He is definitely the life of the family. Keldan can get silly too but he's more laid back and thinks things through, Lucas is the complete opposite. Oh but how I love him! Sometimes I can't even correct him because I'm trying to hold in the laughter, he's so funny.

*Still in diapers but showing HUGE interest in potty training. Think we will be starting it within the next week.

*Has been saying full sentences since he was year and half. Can say so many words, repeats everything. Calls Keldan "brother" and Mikaela is usually "kaelee".

*Wants to be just like his big brother! Whatever Keldan does, he has to do as well. Misses him if hes not here. They share a room (Lucas is still in a crib and I plan to keep it that way for as a long as possible ;)) and lately Lucas has been jumping into bed with Keldan. He loves to romp and play with him.

*Loves his sister. Baby talks to her all the time, doesn't like it when shes crying he tries to calm her. Loves to hold her. Tries to pick her up ;) Sometimes he loves her a little too much ;)

*Such a lovie polite boy, gives hugs, kisses, says please, thank you, and sorry, but then you turn around and he is mouthy and gives you the meanest look. This part gets funny sometimes, he'll get his finger going.

*Brave! He is not afraid of anything. Still shocked we have yet to make an emergency visit. He has just been super lucky, God is really looking out for this one ;)

*Still takes about hour to hour and half nap. Sleeps all night.

*Loves choo choo trains, super heroes, cars, and animals, goofy, veggie tales, transformers. Favorite shows are Dinosaur Train, Superhero Squad Show, Scooby Doo, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Baby Looney Tunes.

*Can count to 3.

*Likes to color, but doesn't get to do it too often because he gets a little hungry....;)

*Loves to sing and dance.

That's all I can think of now...this ornery little turkey brings so much joy to our family. Sometimes he scares me (his bravery) or I get frustrated (his silly streak) but I wouldn't want him any other way! Never a dull moment with him around.

Wednesday we got a package in the mail, kids first Christmas present. Keldan was so excited to open it and became even more excited when he discovered what was inside. Our good friends Zach & Michelle (from the Carolina's) sent them their present since they will not be coming home this year for the holidays. Yes inside was two capes! They are Uganda capes (where they are adopting), how awesome! There was also 2 packs of bows (you can clip on a regular headband or for when they get hair) from sugarplumboutique.blogspot.com (you will have to check them out, super cute stuff!) for Mikaela.

Was cute, Keldan has the most amazing imagination..I was in the toy room and he yells look out Mama there's a volcano (was explaining the volcano and what it was doing) in there. I told him well your a super hero are you going to save your mama. He takes my arm and takes me to the other room and says we are safe here :)

We went to Meemaw's house to make Christmas cutout cookies. She had the dough already made, then we cut them out, baked them, then iced. Little bit challenging cutting them out, but I knew they would have fun so it was worth it :) Keldan sometimes had a little too much fun with the flour we had in a bowl for the cookie cutters, can definitely tell what cookies were closest to him :)

Decorating the tree this year was so much fun! Lucas didn't help too much and by the time we did ornaments he took a nap, next year he will enjoy it. Keldan was such a helper. He picked out the ornaments then told me where to put them. At one point I asked him if there was enough on the tree and he said "no not yet mama, still need more" :) I always put my snowmen on the mantel too, Keldan wanted to help but I tried to side track him when it came to that ;) They love to look at all the ornaments and talk about them. They remind me every morning to turn it on :)

Happy 3 Months

My baby turned 3 months yesterday...hard to believe! So much has changed this month, for the better :) Just a run down of her three month milestone:

*12 lbs 23 3/4 inches (done by holding her on scales & measurement myself so not sure how accurate ;) )

*only couple 0-3 months clothes that still fit, mainly 3 and 3-6 months

*size 1 diapers

*rolling back to belly now

*found her hands and loves them

*eating 5 oz every 3 hours, two nights before she turned 3 months she began sleeping all night which is 9:30 to 8:30

*Naps vary, sometimes bunch of catnaps other times she'll sleep couple hours at a time.

*Baby cooing like crazy, think I've started to hear a little laugh :) One of my favorite things about a baby. I could just sit and listen to her all day! Has the softest voice, although she can get pretty loud and you can't hear the tv ;)

*Lots and lots of smiles!

*Starting to sit up from laying flat...I told her she's too little for this, but she's not really listening to me ;)

*Loves to be up and in the action. I think shes plotting how she can get her brothers back from all the "love" they give her ;)

*Starting to get a little attached to her mama...which she isn't complaining ;)

And the big story for the month: Going to make a somewhat of a long story (back and forth) short :) She was on prevacid for acid reflux, and when I got her perscription refilled it was on manufacture backorder (this way at all pharmacies). After a long almost 2 hours with mine & other pharmacies I was furious! This is just one of those times that I shouldn't have freaked out and known that God was there. After 2 nights of not having it she only woke up once...this has never happened since she's been born. Barely an hour would go past and she was letting me know she was here. Each day has been better, she is completely different! So all along the medicine had to of been disagreeing. She has now went 3 nights without waking up at all. Been able to lay her down and talk to her, still very hard for me to get used to this, but I'm loving it. I know it's been rough for the boys because they haven't had much of their mama for the past couple months. It would seriously take all my energy just to make her happy for 5 minutes. Not anymore!! She will just lay back and go to sleep sometimes on her own, just so calm and relaxed now. At first I thought somebody switched my baby. Just crazy that the miserable past couple months was caused my a pill that I thought was keeping her from getting worse. And if the pharmacy wouldn't have been out of it, she would still be getting it.

Boy have I been slacking! and its definitely not from the lack of pictures :) Just been a bit of a rough month and not much time for blogging. Going to try get caught up with them. Some pictures of whats been going on (the pictures go from newest ones takin to older ones).

2 Months!

Mikaela turned 2 months on Sunday. Here's her update (mainly for my reference):

*10.9lbs (50 percentile)

*23 in long (75 percentile)

*Size 1 diapers

*Size 0-3 month, 3 month, and some 3-6 month clothes

*Rolling belly to back. Usually her tummy time consists of 2 seconds on belly and then she rolls over. Still not a fan of tummy time.

*Tries to roll belly to back but can't quite get her arm out of the way yet.

*Holding her head very well. Loves to sit in the bumbo seat already and watch her brothers play or the dogs.

*She just loves to take in everything around her. Very nosey little girl :)

*Cooing and smiling away! Every morning I get greeted by the biggest grin, perfect way to start the day! Melts my heart, every time I talk to her she just smiles.

*Tries to grab toys, can hold onto them if you put them in her hand.

*Sleeping is still not her best friend. Only have about 1 good night a week, and by good I mean goes about 3 or so hours with out fussing. Its usually 45 min at the longest and I have to soothe her again. I have begun letting her cry some, she is VERY colicky so sometimes calming down is not an option so the crying helps tire her out and then she can sleep. She's had a rough first 2 months, but starting to see some light!

*Changed from Zantac to Prevacid for reflux and scheduled a swallowing study. Test was done at Akron Childrens Hospital last week. They watched the way she eats. God is just so amazing, just all the little details that our body does to get through the day is unbelievable! They gave us a paper that explained what was going on, I won't go into all the details but she was having a couple episodes while eating where the formula was "going down the wrong tube". Wasn't enough where she was diagnosed with it, but enough that she was not going to rule it out. So we made a couple changes with her bottle (no more rice in them & back to slow flow nipples). Give that a couple weeks and see how she does. First couple days she was still choking, but since that has all gone away and no more projectile spitting up! Think the medicine was not helping because it just kept coming up and irritating it. Poor thing! She still spits up with each bottle, but just a small amount and not at all fussy with it. Still gets tummy aches, some evenings are worse than others (her worse time) but I feel she is a lot more comfortable now. Things seem a little more colicky now so I discussed it with her doctor and she felt like it was too. Shes growing and doing what she should be so it's not interrupting her learning/growing time at all. Her doctor also feels her sleeping will get better when her body realizes she is no longer in pain and doesn't need to wake up for it. Whenever I feel ready I can try weaning her off the meds and if no better just start them back up again.

*Just a perfect little angel (other than the colicky episodes). The boys are loving her coos and when she smiles at them. They love to share their toys with her and tell her what they are doing, so cute! I love how they are interacting with her already...sometimes gives me a few grey hairs when Lucas doesn't realize she's not his brother and you can't tackle her but I couldn't imagine life any different!

The kids fall pictures for 2011. Not as good of ones as I would have liked, they are mainly of the boys playing, "no pictures mama" is what we heard. They knew when the camera was out and would run away, such silly boys. Was still able to get ones of the baby girl :) I always take them at my mom & dads, they have the perfect scenery :) We split them up into 2 days...so far ;) Might try to get more if there's some nice days left. Just started editing them, have lots more to do now only if there were more free hours in the day :)
